An old wrinkeled hand reached out to touch a young man's face. He had nice features but with a scruffy soon to be beard forming on his face, and his complexion seemed to have gotten out of hand. The man grasped a hat and smiled wide.
"You...you must not fail me, Danie.." the owner of the hand said with a soft and raspy voice. Danie grasped the hand and held it close to his face, smiling as he rubbed it slowly across his rough forming beard. He kissed the hand.
"I won't," he started, laughing in a dark way as he did so, "..I promise, mama."

Samone's deep hazel eyes shifted from the traffic ahead of her to her wrist watch as horns around her filled the smoggy air.
"MOVE IT, DIPSHIT!" yelled one man three cars over. Samone eyed this fellow and wanted to shudder in disgust for this man seems to have weighed more than a few pounds overweight and looked as if he hadn't showered in weeks. She let out a grim sigh and looked at the radio. She flicked it on, letting sweet tunes wallow around her ears.
"..meh...nuh uh..err...ah- and i'll cry if i want tooo, cry if i want tooo..-" Samone sang as the traffic seemed to move forward, but only just a bit.

story * [062906]
[ mood | creative ]

The crisp wind stung her pale face as she walked briskly throughout the town square. People shuffeled quickly past her, brushing themselves against her, usually hitting her shoulder. With each collision she whispered a soft curse under her breathe and continued onward as it disolved into the air. As she walked, her long black hair glided behind her and it gave her the illusion of something magical, but she herself thought she was anything but magical.

She soon saw what she had been walking towards for the past few minutes now. A large sign in big golden words stated, "Nina's Café". She let herself in through the slightly smudged glass door and let out a deep breath after a bell announced her arrival. Many people sat inside, sipping on warm cups of coffe and reading the latest news, but one man in a far corner looked over at her, slightly giving her a wave. A smirk struck her now not so pale face as she returned the warm gesture and walked towards the man in the corner.

"What took you so long ..?" said the man, sipping on a warm cup of coffee as she set herself down on the slightly battered up seat. She raised an eyebrow and leaned in a bit closer to the man,
"Does a lady ever need a reason?" a smile spread across his face as he lightly tapped her chin with his index finger, as she slightly let out a laugh and let herself draw back.

"How's the Danie project coming?" she said as she returned the menu to the waitress after ordering herself a nice cup of mocha. The man raised an eyebrow and looked up from the newspaper he had been faithfully reading, he licked his lip slightly, put the newspaper completely down and let out a laugh.
"Still bitter are we, Samone?" her eyes rolled with the statement and she fell back onto the booth chair and grimaced.
"I worked so hard for 5 damned months on that and what do they do? Give it to the biggest prick known to man kind."
the man laughed hard at this, and let his head droop as he restrained tears. He lifted his head and let off a big grin,
"Oh Samone, you're fantastic. But getting back to the project, if it makes you feel better, he's screwing it up royally." he took a big sip of his coffee and continued on,
"Now, of course Regal inc. isn't going to let you know that. Why they'd seem like the biggest idiots in the world letting you go like that. Hah. They murdered themselves and they know it. Not much they can do. And by god, you'll end up being their last resort. I guarentee it." the man said, chuckling as he let out a deep sigh. He looked up at Samone, who seemed to be laughing on the inside but giving off nothing more but a nasty smile.
"Really now." she said with that nasty smile on her face.
"Calvin, anything else i should know about all of this?" she continued on, breathing in the wonderful smells of the mocha she had just recieved. The man, or Calvin rather, looked up at her and let out a smile.
"Yes, yes there is. We have uncovered new evidence none the less on Danie Lavarichi. Since his last murder he seems to have run off to a small city in Rome. This city ehh.. we don't quit know yet, but hopefully if the prick, err, Jason, get's on it, we will." Calvin let out, watching as Samone no doubtetly wrote this down in her sort of internal notebook, not missing a single thing.
"Anyone Dannie knew that lived in Rome? Anyone of importance? Family member, best friend from college, the list goes on. Anyone?" Samone said, desperatly looking for more clues.
"Ohhh, why Samone. You act as if you are on the team, why do you care so much?" Calvin devilishly said, as he smiled, well knowing why she was.
"Oh but Calvin, don't you know? I want Jason to writher in my come back."
Calvin let off a nasty smile, and nodded his head with agreement.
"My dear, you shall. Oh yes...you shall."

Samone awoke in the early morning to the sound of her phone vibrating on the table. She slid her long legs out of the sheets of her bed and groggily reached for the phone. The vibrations sent a tingly sensation throughout her arm and it slightly woke her up a bit more. She placed the phone to her ear and let out a soft hello.
"Samone. It's time." and then the line went dead. Samone looked at the phone, placed it down on the table slowly, letting the sound of it hitting the table fill the room. She looked at the phone for a moment. Her gaze slowly moved to the mirror as she let off a devious smile.
"Show time .."

"We need Samone here, and fast. Oh lord, what the hell did i do to deserve this." said a scrawny tall man, shaking as he reached for his coffee and ushered one of his workers out of the room. The man's normally slicked back black hair was in some sort of a shaggy style, and purple rings were forming under his deep grey eyes. The man took in many deep breathes and let out many wails from time to time. Workers from outside of the room popped their heads out of their cubicles trying to look at who the groans and wails were coming from, but the man kept his room nicely enclosed.

"God dammit, Jason!" the man said, as a tall good looking man entered the room.
"What the hell am I doing wrong now, Mark?" said the man, or Jason, as he sat down on a black chair across from Mark, the shakey man.
"EVERYTHING," started Mark angrily. "You just can't seem to do anything right with this damned case, can you? Dammit, I knew we were gonna go down the drain when we gave you this instead of giving it to Samone, she would ha-"
"Did someone say my name?" said Samone, interuppting Mark with her devious voice and statement. Jason's mouth dropped as Samone walked into the room, taking her black coat off and sliding it over the top of a chair, which she then sat herself down in. She looked over at Jason and smiled, then winking a bit.
"Ah..haha...Samone. It's you. Glad you could make it. I see you have found the idiot who we stupidly gave this case to..heh. Hope all is forgiven?" said Mark, now shaking once more.
Samone looked over at Jason, smirking. Then turned her head slowly back to Mark, leaving her eyes on Jason a bit longer, then returned her gaze.
"Water under the bridge I say." stated Samone casually.
"Ah haha..yes. Water under the bridge." Mark let out with a sigh.
"But I must ask, Mark. Since you've realised Jason couldn't..fullfill what you asked. Does this mean it's back to me, the smarter and better one?" Jason stood up quickly and leered at Samone,
"HOW DARE YOU CRITICISE ME, WHEN I WAS THE ONE THEY PICKED OVER YOUR PATHETIC SELF."
Samone let out a laugh and stood up as well, placing her hand on Jason's shoulder.
"Darling, if you are such a god in the detective world, then why are they calling me?"

Jason looked at Samone, then took his gaze towards Mark, whom was standing there sipping on his coffee with a smug smile on his young but worn face.
"I quit." let out Jason, as he grabbed his coat, but not before he was stopped by Mark.
"Oh my boy, you can't quit." Jason turned his head and looked at Mark curiousley,
"We've already fired you." Mark spat laughingly as he smiled over his coffee cup.
Jason's eyes flickered with rage and personal riticule. He looked downwards, muttered a soft goodbye and left the office.
"Welcome back, Samone." Mark uttered to Samone. She smiled at him and let out a hand so she could grasp his,
"You won't regret this."
